The continual evolution of pathogens makes infectious disease control extremely challenging. The overarching goal of the Prepare for Pandemics through Advanced Research in Evolution (PrePARE) Cluster is to leverage our understanding of pathogen evolution to reduce the burden of infectious disease in a changing world.
The interactive and collaborative research programs of PrePARE cluster members will generate comprehensive insights into the emergence and evolution of pathogens in animal host species, elucidate mechanisms and solutions to the spread of antimicrobial resistance, innovate new strategies to treat infectious disease, understand immune responses to inform the development and implementation of effective vaccines and immunomodulators, and seek to better understand the bidirectional interactions between human society and pathogens, in the context of changing environments.
Equity & Diversity Policy
PrePARE is committed to cultivating a culture of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion through ongoing education and working toward overcoming collective and individual biases. We acknowledge and respect the diversity of lived experiences, expertise, and knowledge of all our cluster members. We welcome contributions regardless of race, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, religion, political belief, marital or family status, age, and/or status as a First Nation, Métis, Inuit, or Indigenous person.
We live, work and learn on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
