There is a global realization of the dire need to get ahead in the arms race with future pandemic threats. However, the continual emergence and evolution of pathogens in our changing world makes infectious disease control very challenging. The PrePARE Cluster is a collaborative and interdisciplinary group of scientists – working with academics, government, vulnerable communities, and industry – to conduct high-impact research on the drivers and consequences of emerging and evolving pathogens.
Cluster Aims:
- Leverage our understanding of pathogen evolution in host species to tackle emerging infectious diseases and prepare for future pandemics
- Develop new strategies to reduce the burden of infectious diseases and to prevent pathogen evolution of resistance
- Explore connections between global change and infectious disease transmission, severity, treatment, and evolution
- Engage with a diversity of communities to increase effectiveness of findings and to achieve outcomes with local and global benefits.
